Through August a lot of Americans and Canadians are on vacations, but the numbers tend to tail off in the second half of the month in this region. All eyes are on Rio in 2016 as it hosts the Summer Olympic Games, but a few miles west of this metropolis you are going to discover a pristine stretch of shoreline composed of emerald peaks, peaceful islands, and near-deserted beaches. The bigger dilemma will be the crowds, as this city is something but a secret amongst the budget travel set. As for my 2015 travels, I’d like to go to Morocco, or possibly even The Philippines or Thailand.
