National Historic Landmarks (NHLs) are nationally substantial historic areas designated by the Secretary of the Interior due to the fact they possess exceptional value or good quality in illustrating or interpreting the heritage of the United States. This Board also promotes preservation of historic web sites, landmarks, documents, paintings and objects linked with the history of Sausalito recommends to the Preparing Commission that certain historic web-sites, landmarks and districts be designated and/or acquired by the City advises the City Council on the acceptance of donations and/or acquisitions of products with historic worth to the City advises the City Council on matters relating to the historic and cultural preservation of the City.
